Defence in brief: ePropelled expands Hercules power systems for drones
The US company ePropelled has expanded its Hercules starter generator family to include five new starter generators providing between 500 W and 12 kW of power in response to growing market demand for hybrid uncrewed platforms. The expanded Hercules family includes four new power management systems and an electronic starter motor that helps power conversion in hybrid applications. This typically means uncrewed platforms that pair an internal combustion engine with a starter generator to provide greater onboard power and range. ePropelled’s other products include the Sparrow and Falcon electric propulsion motors for use in drones, which have helped customers build uncrewed aerial vehicles with ranges up to 1,000 km. According to ePropelled, there is also increasing interest in using these types of products for uncrewed platforms in land and maritime applications.
